Fun Outdoor Activities to Do When You Are Bored

Staying at home all day can be quite… boring, right? Even if you get up and walk around the house or open the fridge, five times in the span of one hour (for sure you’ve done it), you still don’t feel any jolt of excitement run through your spine. No worries, the outside world is full of new things to explore, so don’t be afraid to try something new with your friends. Here are some outdoor activities that are really fun to try.

Fun Outdoor Activities to Try

Scavenger Hunt

Start by making a list of things that you don’t normally see outside, or grab one from the Internet. Just make sure that it’s suited to your area, so the game stays fun instead of stressful.

Plant some Seeds

Head to your local gardening center and purchase some seeds of your choice. Once you get home, grab your tools and throw on a pair of clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, then start digging and planting.

Mini Picnic Party

Whether it’s in your own backyard or a local park, you can always have a fun time just sitting on a piece of cloth and laughing about the silliest things. Just prepare your best sandwiches, a picnic cloth, and maybe a Frisbee to play with.

Photo Shoot

Maybe you haven’t heard of it, but photographers love the outdoors and the sun. It’s the best natural lighting that makes subjects glow differently. Go through your closet and put on the cutest outfit and shoot some cute outdoor photos.

Sky Gazing

Day or night, this is a great idea when you’re bored. Lie down on a blanket and look up at the cloudy blue sky and trace some shapes, or maybe look for constellations on a starry night. It’s a relaxing activity that doesn’t require much.

Water Balloon Fight

If you’re itching to move on a hot summer day, then try having a water balloon fight with your family and friends! You can use some water guns, too, for some added fun. Just make sure to collect the popped balloons after as they can pollute the environment.

The Benefits of Playing Outdoors

Playing like little kids outside isn’t just about fun. If you live in a more rural area, or a place with a lot of greenery, then stepping outside would be a great way to get your daily dose of sunlight and fresh air. Playing outside also allows you to sweat out the toxins from your body. Frequently finding new things to do outdoors is often helpful when you’re trying to burn extra calories. It also allows you to discover new things, so no two days spent outdoors are exactly alike.

There’s no reason for that boring feeling to chase you outside. After all, the outdoors is full of fun activities that you can do with a bunch of friends or on your own. So put on some sunblock, get your heartbeat racing, and enjoy the blue sky and green grass. There’s always something new to do when you’re outdoors.
